Weekly Blog Post 12/17/10

How do you plan to use sound in your game? The sound will allow a better understanding for what you're doing and whats happening around that.

How will it help enhance the game play and learning experience of your game? The sound may or may not enhance the learning experience the way it is intended to be presented, but the game play may be enhanced because it will cause a better understanding for what's happening. For example, if you get used to hearing a certain sound when an event occurs, you will be aware of what is happening while you are playing.

Weekly Blog Post 12/10/10

I would like you to think about your game and answer the following question:  Can your game be both a Civics and Stem Game?
It can't relate to a Civics based game but it can relate to a Stem game because you are learning about technology and viruses in the computer world.
In order for you to make an informed decision and answer the above question, I have added links to the definition of Civics (Civics Definition) and Stem (Stem Definition). In addition, please list five game ideas that could be both Civics and Stem Games.
1)A game about how technology can be used to benefit the government world.
2)A game that shows the pros of using technology to vote on election day.
3)A game that requires both knowledge of government and science/technology related topics.
4)A game that can help you learn how government and science can be used together.
5)A quiz game that requires the player to explain how technology is used when it comes to government actions.

Weekly Blog Post 12/3/10

I like this class so far. Learning about code and programming flash files answered a lot of questions I had about online flash games and how they work. It helps me a lot with creating a game in the future.

Weekly Blog Post 11-19-10

Link to the blog post referred to: http://www.thedigitalphotographyconnection.com/PFDP.php?accesscheck=%2FPFDP2.php
I chose this link because it helps you find out more about creating and/or editing professional images. It gives you tutorials on how to use certain techniques to touch up a picture or create an image that is realistic and completely different from the starting look of the image itself.

Internet Security

Internet Security

Internet Security is a paramount concern of educators and the Globaloria staff.  To assure that students understand why Internet Security is so important you will need to answer the questions below:
  • Should you respond or talk to people you do not know, on line, outside the Globaloria Community? No you shouldn't.
  • Can you be sure the person you are talking to has actually represented themselves accurately? No because you have no real proof of what the person is saying about themselves.
  • Why do we ask you to hide  your personal information? So that no one can get access to such information in order to harm you.
    • Why must you never give your Social Security Number or bank account number to anyone online? Because their is a great chance they will use your information to steal your money or commit a crime under your identity.

Team Picture

  • Name the team roles. Roger - Graphics Designer; Brent - Game Background (Story and Outline); Jacob Fincham - Graphic Animator; these roles are based on what the team members may do the most.
  • What is your role in the team? I design the graphics on the computer itself.
  • Why are you good at this job?  I love to draw things on the computer, make images in photoshop and other editors, and just express creativity.
  • What is the hardest part about working in teams? Sometimes, the team can't get along.

Weekly Blog Post

  1. Copy these questions and answer ALL of these questions about your Game Idea, that you discussed in the Imagining Your Game section, in a blog post, on your blog in complete sentences:

  •  WHO are you designing your game for? (Include the player's age, abilities, and prior knowledge of your topic.) This is a game suitable for all ages. Our prior knowledge is knowing the differences of technology today and later as opposed to technology in the past.
  • WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic? (Be specific!) It will teach the player the benefits of technology today and in the future.
  • WHERE does your game happen? In a computer or room with different types of technology.
  • Describe the world you will design for your game. It will consist of mostly computer related elements.
  • How will this setting add to the learning experience? It won't add more of a learning experience but rather an enviornment closely related to the main experience itself.
  • HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic? It doesn't teach much of anything.
  • What happens in the world that helps the player learn? They (as a virus) breakdown firewalls and learn about technology.
  • How does the player use what they learned to make something happen in the game?
  • WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz? You are inside the experience and can understand more.
2.  Post a picture of your team and complete the following tasks
  • Name the team roles. Brent Anderson - Game Ideas, Roger Wright. - Graphic Illustrator, Jacob Fincham - Mosty Animation such as movement and live events.
  • What is your role in the team? I will mostly draw out most of the graphics shown in the game.
  • Why are you good at this job? I love to draw and create graphics in free time as well as create other types of multimedia files.
  • What is the hardest part about working in teams? Sometimes you can't get along with other team mates. And in my case, it is ALWAYS true.
3. Comment on the blog of another Globaloria student in your Knowledge Community!

Weekly Blog Post

Do you play games in your free time? Yes, I do play games in my free time.
Which ones do you play and why are they your favorite? I play First Person Shooters (Xbox 360) and Sidescrollers similar to games played on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Does this topic give you a new perspective about playing games? Yes.
Why or why not? FPS games give you a sense of actually being in the action or scenario of a game. Sidescrollers normally include a type of challenge or puzzle to move on.
